Southeast Corridor

The Southeast Corridor is a comprehensive transportation network of air travel, roads, passenger-and freight-rail and bus services. Rail is a vital network component.

High-performance rail and additional capacity from Washington, D.C., to Atlanta, Ga., are essential to completing the full build-out and significantly improving passenger services in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Further Tier I studies extend the corridor to Hampton Roads, Va., and Atlanta, Ga. Tier II studies include Raleigh, N.C., to Richmond, Va., and Richmond to Washington, D.C. Follow-up Tier II studies complete detailed environmental analysis and clear projects for funding and construction.
